Community Guidelines

Signing up for a Songs of Ourselves workshop means that you are also committing to following our community guidelines. Here they are:

1.VEGAS RULE

Everything that is shared in the workshop by participants is not to be shared publicly. We keep folks personal information confidential in order to keep the workshops safe for all.

2.TAKE SPACE, MAKE SPACE

If you're someone who talks a lot, take a step back and make space for others. If you do not talk a lot, step up and take space!

3.RESPECT BOUNDARIES

If someone says something doesn't feel good to talk about, we stop.

4.TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF

Leave if you need to! Practice radical self consent!

5.USE CONTENT WARNINGS

We try our best to ask before talking about anything that could potentially trigger another person.

6.IMPACT vs. INTENT

Our intentions may not always align with what we say or do. This may have an impact. We own that by apologizing when called in.

7.NO GATEKEEPING

These workshops are meant to be a space where we break free of barriers and embrace queerness in all its amazing forms. If someone uses certain words to describe themselves, it is not okay for us to tell them they are wrong to do that, even if it differs from our understanding of those words.

8.EXPECT AND SPEAK YOUR DISCOMFORT AND JOY

Uh, yeah, so this is not always going to be super comfy and easy! That's okay! We share when things are hard and we share when things feel awesome.

9.BE KIND, OPEN MINDED, AND SUPPORTIVE

We are a community! We love and care for each other the best we can during our time together.

10.WE ARE ALL TEACHERS AND LEARNERS

The instructor is not going to talk the entire time! Sometimes they won't have all the answers, either. We lean on each other and learn together.

11. ANTICIPATE A LACK OF CLOSURE

Self-discovery is a lifelong process.
